🧱 Project: How to Build a Multilingual Website
⏲️ Estimated time: 30 mins

Before online translation existed, translating content into different languages was a time intensive, manual and costly process. A translator would be required to translate the content and then web developers would be required to upload this content onto language-specific domains, subdomains or subfolders.
The cost and technical expertise in online translation meant that reaching new audiences through translation was a huge barrier to try and overcome for individuals or smaller businesses.
Over the last 20 years, this process of online translation has been made easier through the adoption of translation APIs and platform-specific translation functionality, but often these solutions still required some technical ability to execute.
Now, in the no-code era, this barrier to online translation is removed with tools like Weglot allowing seamless cross-platform translation without having to understand any code.

In this lesson you’ll learn:
  • The basics of Weglot
  • How to build a multilingual website
  • Integrating Weglot with Softr

Let's Prep 🥗

What’s Weglot?
Weglot is a website translation tool that simplifies the process of making your website multilingual. It automatically detects and translates your site’s content, offering a comprehensive and user-friendly solution for website localisation.
Key Concepts
Weglot's fundamental feature is its automatic translation capability. It seamlessly integrates with your website, detecting text and translating it in real-time, making your content accessible to users worldwide in their native languages. Think of Weglot as a universal translator, bridging language barriers and allowing you the opportunity to connect with a broader audience.
