Hi there 👋!!
Today, you’ll continue to develop your AI art prompting skills, learning about dynamic prompting and using Adobe Firefly.
Time to bring your ideas to life 🚀

Task for the Day 📝

🧱 Project: Creating AI Art with Adobe Firefly
⏲️ Estimated time: 30 minutes
🛠️ Tools: Adobe Firefly

Context📄

Today you’ll add another AI art generation tool to your arsenal, by learning how to create images using Adobe Firefly.
Adobe Firefly is a free and easy-to-use tool to generate images based on a text prompt.
If you struggle with creating design assets to support your projects, tools like Adobe Firefly can take that pain away, allowing you to quickly produce imagery related to your content. The graphics you create can also be easily resized and repurposed for use in your social media content.

In this lesson you’ll learn:
  • How to write an image prompt using the Dynamic Prompting Framework
  • How to create an AI image
  • How to edit your AI image for the right style and size
  • How to download and share your AI image

Let's Prep 🥗

Outlined below is a framework you can use specifically for image creation, called Dynamic Prompting.
Dynamic Prompting, developed and refined by Linus Ekenstam, helps you control the key elements of an image, using just text commands.
There are six key elements to dynamic prompting:
  1. Subject - The focus of the image.
  1. Acting - What the subject is doing/feeling/emoting.
  1. Style - Features of the subject including clothing, ethnicity, eye colour, hair colour, etc.
  1. Place - Location of the image, also the year or era can be added to impact style.
  1. Time of Day - Exactly as it sounds, but also helpful to tweak the lighting.
  1. Photographic Equipment - Controlling the details of film, lens and camera settings.

Let’s see dynamic prompting in action, using one of Linus Ekenstam’s images.
Here he posted a tweet of an AI image he created with Midjourney.
You will notice in many of his tweets, and the tweets of other artists, they will put the prompt in the ALT text so you can try it for yourself.
In this case, the prompt is:
A portrait of a young woman with streaks of freckles on her face, in the style of juxtaposition of light and shadow, macro zoom, realistic forms, polished surfaces, 1970–present, uhd image, hyper-realistic, half face shot, zoom in --ar 16:9

Using Dynamic Prompting in Firefly
As you use different AI generation tools, you will notice some of these prompt elements are added as options, so you don’t have to use text. This is the case with Firefly.
To get started, just head to firefly.adobe.com. Create an account.
Then click on the ‘Text to Image’ option. Here you will be able to enter a prompt.
Let’s try:
  • A cowboy
  • riding a spaceship
  • wearing a spacesuit and cowboy hat
  • on the plains of North Dakota
  • at dusk
  • uhd image, hyper-realistic
And here we go...
