Specifically, you’ll build an employee directory app, again using Notion as the database and the NotionApps for the front-end template.
The type of app you’ll be building today isn’t the type of app you’d download from an app store, but is a browser-based app that’s responsive on desktop and mobile. To install these types of apps on your devices, you can use the "Add to home screen" option on your browser.

What’s NotionApps?
NotionApps allows you to turn Notion databases into apps that are responsive on desktop and mobile. Their highly flexible platform allows you to create apps from scratch or from a range of useful templates, like the one you’re going to use in today’s lesson!

In today’s lesson you’ll pretend you’re a HR professional and you need to create a solution for logging important employee details. To keep things simple, all you need is an employee database (where you can search for employees) and the ability to easily add new employees to the database.
Here’s a high level overview of how you’ll approach this task:
- Clone your app from a NotionApps template.
- Remove app screens and navigation items that aren’t relevant to this example scenario.
- Add a LinkedIn profile URL to the database and to employee records that are shown in the app.
- Add a new screen to your app which includes a form, enabling you to easily add new employees.
- Customize your app’s design and publish your app.
