No-code is here to stay.
People are finally realizing that relying on 0.3% of the population to create 100% of the apps, programs, algorithms, and websites we use every day is no way to encourage innovation and inclusivity.
Thanks to the no-code movement, there are more resources than ever to help you create your own projects, products, and services… if you know where to look. In this article, we’ll discuss what the no-code movement is, why it matters, and how to get involved through communities like 100DaysOfNoCode.
Ready? Let's dive in.

What Is the No-Code Movement?

When people talk about the “no-code movement”, they're referring to the explosion of no-code tools (and interest in those tools) in recent years.
No-code tools are development platforms that allow users to build software applications without the need for coding. In essence, no-code tools enable anyone—regardless of their technical ability—to create web and mobile apps.
We think that's a pretty big deal. After all, coding is a barrier to entry for many aspiring entrepreneurs and creatives who want to make their ideas a reality.

Why Has No-Code Sparked Its Own Movement?

Easy Idea Validation

There's a bit of a paradox at the heart of software development (and any kind of product development, really):
  1. Not all ideas are worth investing your time and money into.
  1. The only way to know if your idea is worth investing in is by building it and validating it.
Historically, this meant hiring developers and investing in expensive software engineering hours or buckling down and putting in the hours yourself. With no-code tools, you can build out a working prototype of your idea quickly, cheaply, and with minimal engineering resources.

Incredible Cost-Effectiveness

The cost of building an app without no-code tools is super high—anywhere from $40,000 for basic apps to $300,000+ for complex apps.
With no-code tools, you're looking at a fraction of the cost. Most tools charge monthly fees in the ballpark of $25 to $200 per month. Assuming an average development time of 2 to 3 months, no-code tools offer savings of up to 95% when compared with traditional app development.

Lower Development Barriers

The barrier to entry for coding is incredibly high—it takes years of study and practice before you can call yourself proficient (hence the high cost of traditional software development). No-code tools make it easy for anyone to create software, regardless of their technical background or coding experience.
At 100DaysOfNoCode, we've seen people from all kinds of non-technical backgrounds (teachers, marketers, entrepreneurs, etc.) go from newbies to building their own software in a matter of days or weeks.

How Can You Get Involved With the No-Code Movement?

1. 100DaysOfNoCode

At 100DaysOfNoCode, we're big believers in the power of no-code (obviously), but we understand that getting started isn't always easy. What tools should you learn? What techniques should you use? What apps can you build? These are just some (of many) questions that no-code beginners struggle with.

That's why we created the 100DaysOfNoCode Challenge—a free community challenge that breaks no-code tools and techniques down into daily, bite-sized challenges. And if you're looking for personalized guidance, we also run a No-Code MVP Bootcamp designed to get you from complete beginner to MVP in just 30 days.
All 100DaysOfNoCode members also get access to a ton of other educational resources, including:
  • An active Slack community
  • Live community events
  • Bonus lessons & challenges
  • Members-only newsletters

2. Zeroqode Lab

Zeroqode is a no-code app template and plugin maker that has built up a pretty impressive library over the years. Zeroquode Lab is their online platform dedicated to helping people get up to speed with no-code development.

They offer a wide range of courses on all kinds of topics—from creating web3 & crypto apps to integrating your apps with payment processors. A lot of their courses are paid, but they do offer a number of their most popular courses for free—a great example being their Introduction to Bubble course.

3. Makerpad

Makerpad (owned by no-code fixture Zapier) is an amazing resource for no-code tutorials, articles, and courses.

If you head over to Makerpad, you can find tutorials for just about anything you want to build—from Slack bots and mobile apps to integrations and eCommerce stores. They also have introductions to a lot of the major no-code tools, including Webflow, Airtable, Bubble, and more.

4. No Code Ops

No Code Ops is a community for (you guessed it) no-code operators—a relatively new tech role that focuses on the deployments of no-code tools (rather than development).
notion image
No Code Ops members get access to live & virtual events, video tutorials, and an active Discord community moderated by a team of in-house no-code experts. Paid members also get access to gated AMAs, on-demand support, and discounts on no-code tools.

5. Buildcamp

Buildcamp is a great resource for high-quality, expertly-crafted Bubble tutorials. If you're looking for guidance on other tools, you'll need to find it elsewhere—possibly at 100DaysOfNoCode!

Still, what Buildcamp does cover, is covered with an incredibly high level of detail. They have a bunch of different courses, including beginner courses to help you get up and running with Bubble, and more advanced courses to help you level up your Bubble skills.
Free members get access to Buildcamps's entire library of how-to's but will need to upgrade to the Pro Annual plan ($348/year) for access to courses, bootcamps, and the 9,000-strong Slack community.
